Licensing FAQ
Everything you need to know about using beats, plugins, and sound kits from Dee Tracks Global, with a focus on South African copyright compliance.
What is the difference between a Basic, Premium, and Exclusive licence?+
Basic is for personal, non-commercial use only. Premium allows commercial use, streaming, and radio play with producer credit. Exclusive grants full commercial rights, removes the beat from the marketplace, and allows unlimited streams.
Do I own the beat after purchasing an Exclusive licence?+
Not automatically. An Exclusive licence gives you exclusive usage rights, but copyright ownership only transfers after a separate Copyright Assignment Agreement is signed with the producer.
Do I need to credit the producer?+
Yes. All Premium and Exclusive licences require producer credit in the format "Prod. by Dee Tracks Records" in your release metadata unless a custom agreement says otherwise.
Can I use a beat for a music video on YouTube?+
Basic licences do not permit YouTube monetisation. Premium licences allow YouTube monetisation within the licence limits. Exclusive licences allow unlimited YouTube use and monetisation.
What happens if I exceed the Premium licence stream limit?+
Upgrade to an Exclusive licence before exceeding the limit. Contact info@deetracks.co.za and we will apply your original Premium purchase price as a credit toward the upgrade where applicable.
Are the beats registered with SAMRO and CAPASSO?+
Producers on the platform are guided to register with SAMPRA and CAPASSO. Products include ISRC and ISWC placeholder fields that are populated once registration is confirmed.
Do I need to register my final song with SAMRO after using a beat from Dee Tracks?+
Yes. When you create a finished recording using a licensed beat, you should register your final recording with SAMRO and CAPASSO so you can collect royalties on airplay and streaming.
How does payment work for South African users vs international users?+
South African customers pay in ZAR via PayFast. International customers are routed to Paystack for checkout. Pricing is automatically detected from your region setting.
What file formats are included in my download?+
Beat downloads include a high-quality MP3 and, where available, a trackout or stems ZIP. Plugins include the installer package and licence key. Sound kits include WAV samples.
How long are download links valid?+
Signed download links are valid for 24 hours. After expiry, sign in and visit My Downloads to generate a fresh download link.
What is the refund policy?+
All sales are final because these are digital goods. Refunds are only issued for demonstrable delivery failures such as a corrupted or incorrect file.
